“ClipBuffer: Clipboard History” keeps a history of what you copy on your own Mac. The app has no servers, no accounts, no analytics and no network code. This applies to the app, not to this website (see “This website” below). This page says exactly what the app keeps.
What the app keeps
Everything you copy while the app runs: plain and rich text, links, images and files (their paths). The history is held in memory. It is gone when you quit or restart the app.
What is written to disk
Items larger than 256 KB are written to a temporary folder named ClipBufferBlobs so that memory stays small. The folder is cleared when the app starts. The app also stores its settings (shortcut, limit, timer, language, whether the first-run walkthrough was shown) in the standard macOS preferences. The debug log exists only in development builds.
What leaves your Mac
Nothing. The app contains no networking code, no analytics and no crash reporting, and it does not check for updates. When you paste an item into another app, that app receives it as it would from any paste.
Permissions
The direct download asks for the Accessibility permission to listen for your shortcut and to paste into other apps, and macOS may also ask for Input Monitoring. Both are granted by you in System Settings and can be withdrawn at any time. The app does not read your screen, files, contacts or location.
Sensitive copies
Whatever you copy is kept, including passwords copied from a password manager. To limit this, lower the item limit, set an auto-delete timer in Settings, use Clear all in the history window, or quit the app.
Removing everything
Quit the app and move ClipBuffer to the Bin. Nothing else is stored on your Mac except its preferences, which you can delete with the defaults command for com.zhimbura.ClipBuffer.
This website
This website uses Yandex.Metrica, a visitor counter. It sets cookies and receives your IP address and the pages of this site you open. The data is not sold and is not linked to the app, which sends nothing. An ad or content blocker turns the counter off. The statement that no data is collected applies to the app, not to this website.
